Built in 1798, the Headquarters Building is located in Independence
Square just south of Old City Hall. After removal of 1870's third floor, it
was restored to its original appearance in 1948 by J.S. Cornell & Son. Minor
interior alterations have been done to date. (Architects: Martin, Stewart and
Noble)
Library Hall is located at Fifth and Library Streets. Built new in 1959
by J.S. Cornell & Son, the west wing is an adaptive restoration of the original
Library Company of Philadelphia. With two stack floors below grade, it is the
repository of many historical volumes and papers not only of the Society, but
other similar organizations. (Architects: Martin, Stewart and Noble)
Archival Library is part of Banker's Row at 427 Chestnut Street. Original
façade conceals a newly constructed interior with an auditorium as well
as archival library space. Completed between 1982 and 1992 with architects Bower,
Lewis and Thrower.
