Chemical Heritage
Foundation
View of East Building
Architect's rendering of south elevation of the
proposed façade for the Chemical Heritage
Foundation Headquarters located at 315 Chestnut
Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This is a multi-phased project that will include
additional floors and alterations for future galleries
and collections.
This renovation project involved major structural
alterations of three historic buildings (circa
1865, 1916, and 1953) to meet the new requirements
of a modern Archival Library. The seven-story
1953 building required removal of exterior masonry
fabric for a new curtain wall. The new skylight
enclosed the three distinct structures and created
a very unique mute-purpose space leading into
a more traditional Reading Room, which includes
a glass floor balcony.
