The Ross House at Newmarket
The Ross House restoration and adaptive reuse project is located on historic
Headhouse Square at the entrance to Newmarket. This extensive project involved
the reconstruction of a group of 18th century townhouses. The corner house was
originally owned by Captain John Ross, a merchant and purchasing agent for the
U.S. Continental Congress army during the revolutionary war. The original structures
were carefully stripped of the ravages of decades of neglect and decay and then
were reconstructed to their original period style, with the addition of contemporary
mechanical and electrical systems as well as a multi-level exterior veranda
facing the contemporary retail plaza. The structure now houses approx. 16,700
SF of prime commercial, retail and office space with a traditional appearance
to complement the historic panorama of the surrounding neighborhood.
