Church of
St. Lukes and the Epiphany
Philadelphia, PA
The Church of St. Luke and the Epiphany, a historical
church, was completed in 1839. It was designed
with a heavy timber truss and purlin roof framing
system. Work included a temporary hanging of an
ornate plaster ceiling; removal of an existing
roof system, gutter liners, exhaust fans and hoods.
This project also included removal of existing
tongue and groove wood decking and heavy timber
purlins. Also included in this project was a repair
and reinforcement of deficient/failed structural
wood trusses and connections. New engineered plate
trusses, gutter sections and plywood sheathings
were installed. Also a new EPDM roof system with
new vents, rain water conductors and other roof
associated items were installed. New electrical
system upgrades were incorporated in the redesign.
